Fire Rated Certified For Green Roof and Green Walladmin
Last year, an industrial building at Toh Guan Road caught fire due to the cladding resulting in the death of a woman. Claddings are composite panels attached to the frame of building acting as an outer wall. Since the incident, the SCDF has ensured all forms of cladding including green wall have to comply to stringent regulations.
According to Straits Times – For these materials to be used here, they must first be given the green light by an accredited certification laboratory, which will test batch samples of the product, said principal architect of TBL Architects, Mr Tan Beng Leong.
The supplier or distributor has to obtain a certificate of conformity (COC) stating its class and the architect has to approve this. The materials is then approved again by the resident engineers and technical officers. Surprisingly, despite Singapore’s strict regulations, 41 buildings were affected.
At GWS Living Art, we take great pride in ensuring quality products for our clients and to complete our projects properly, we deliver safe and quality products only.
- We have attained our COC for fire rating which has been approved by regulatory bodies
- All our green wall green module system materials have been sent for smoke density, flame spread test to ensure the toxicity is within acceptable levels and flames do not spread.
- Our natural plants actually help to reduce VOC and provides an opportunity for water filtering.
Green walls are natural claddings that have been proven to have positive health impacts and beenefits both host and surrounding buildings. As an aesthetic façade, vertical green improves the properly value as well as extend the vuilding façade life because it protects the building from weathering and deterioration.
Lastly, we will do a more in-depth report on our test results on the thermal insulationa and urban heat island effect of our green walls and green roofs. One things’ for sure – they are positively affected by greenery!
